In our interview, Gill Tatman-Tyree Jr. ‘95 speaks about his three years at Mercersburg Academy, where he played drums in the jazz band and was passionate about skiing, soccer, and lacrosse. He notes that the strong sense of community and supportive faculty at Mercersburg was essential in building his character and discovering who he was. After he graduated from Mercersburg Academy, Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Tatman-Tyree attended Trinity College for three semesters, but he decided it wasn’t for him. Initially LTC Tatman-Tyree enlisted in the Army as an adventure, but he remarks that it soon became a calling to him as he began to feel a part of something bigger. LTC Tatman-Tyree outlines his experience in the Army, including his enlistment, attendance at West Point, and multiple deployments overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Morocco.
